The Most Absolute Best Wrapped Gift Ever - Devotions Day 5

Changed and Commissioned

Devotional
The shepherds' story didn't end when they found Jesus in the manger. After witnessing the miracle of God's Son lying in swaddling clothes, something remarkable happened... they were transformed. They couldn't keep the good news to themselves but became messengers, joyfully sharing the gift of Christ with everyone who would listen. Then they returned to their fields, back to their everyday work, but they were forever changed. They went back glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. This is the beautiful pattern of encountering Jesus: we come as we are, we're transformed by His presence, and then we're commissioned to share that transformation with others. The shepherds didn't become professional evangelists or leave their jobs to become full-time ministers. They simply returned to their ordinary lives as extraordinary people... people who had met Jesus and couldn't help but talk about Him. Their example challenges us today: After experiencing God's goodness in our lives, do we keep it to ourselves, or do we share it with others? The good news of Jesus isn't meant to be hoarded; it's meant to be shared. Every person who has encountered Christ becomes a messenger, equipped to tell others about the hope, peace, and joy found in Him. You don't need special training or perfect theology... you just need to share what Jesus has done in your life.

Bible Verse
The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them. - Luke 2:20

Reflection Question
How has encountering Jesus changed you, and who in your life needs to hear about the hope you've found in Him?

Quote
They didn't keep the good news to themselves. They joyfully shared the gift of Christ to everyone who would listen.

Prayer
God, thank You for the ways You've changed my life through Jesus. Give me boldness and opportunities to share Your good news with others, just like the shepherds did. Help me to live as a joyful messenger of Your love. Amen.
