Bold Faith [Blind Faith] Devotions Day 4
Persistent Prayer
Devotional
Bartimaeus teaches us something powerful about prayer—persistence matters. When told to be quiet, he shouted all the louder. His determination to reach Jesus despite opposition models how we should approach prayer. Too often, we give up praying when we don't see immediate results. We whisper a request once or twice, and when heaven seems silent, we conclude that God isn't listening or doesn't care. But Jesus specifically taught that we should "keep on asking... keep on seeking... keep on knocking." Persistent prayer isn't about wearing God down until He gives in. It's about developing the kind of relationship where we trust Him enough to keep coming back, even when circumstances suggest He isn't listening. Prayer isn't meant to be a formal, distant conversation with eloquent words we barely understand. It's meant to be an ongoing, intimate dialogue with the lover of our soul. It's about maintaining a constant awareness of God's presence throughout our day—while driving, working, or relaxing. When we understand that prayer is less about getting things from God and more about being with God, persistence becomes natural. We keep praying because we keep breathing. We maintain that connection not out of duty but out of desire for His presence.
Bible Verse
Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. - Matthew 7:7
Reflection Question
In what area of your life do you need to move from occasional prayers to persistent, faith-filled pursuit of God's presence and answer?
Quote
Prayer is not meant to be this really formal conversation with really eloquent words that you barely understand, right? That's not what prayer is. Prayer is you spending time with the lover of your soul.
Prayer
Father, forgive me for giving up too easily in prayer. Help me to be like Bartimaeus, calling out to You even when it seems You're not responding. Teach me to pray not just with my words but with my whole life, maintaining awareness of Your presence throughout each day. Amen.
