Strangers In This Land [Trust God's Provision] Devotion Day 2
Faith That Acts
Devotional
Faith is more than a feeling or an intellectual belief. True faith moves us to action. When God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac—the very child through whom God had promised to build a nation—Abraham didn't hesitate. Despite the confusion and heartache this command must have caused, Abraham rose early the next morning and set out to obey. This wasn't blind obedience; it was trust built on experience. Abraham had walked with God for decades and had seen His faithfulness firsthand. His obedience flowed from his conviction that God would somehow remain true to His promises, even if it meant raising Isaac from the dead. James tells us that Abraham's faith was made complete by what he did. His actions demonstrated the reality of his belief. In the same way, our faith is revealed not just by what we say we believe, but by how we live in response to those beliefs. God isn't asking us to sacrifice our children, but He does call us to obey Him even when it's difficult or doesn't make sense. When we step out in obedience, we demonstrate that we truly trust God's character and promises.
Bible Verse
Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete. - James 2:21-22
Reflection Question
What is God asking you to do that requires faith-filled action, and what's holding you back from complete obedience?
Quote
True faith isn't just believing God. True faith is also obeying God.
Prayer
Lord, strengthen my faith to be more than just words. Give me courage to act on what I believe, even when it's difficult. Help me to trust Your character so completely that obedience becomes my natural response. May my actions demonstrate the reality of my faith in You. Amen.
