Famous Last Words [Jesus Loved His Enemies] Devotions Day 1

The Upside-Down Kingdom

Devotional
Have you ever noticed how different God's ways are from the world's ways? In God's kingdom, the values and principles often seem completely reversed from what we naturally expect. This is especially true when it comes to how we treat those who hurt us. While the world tells us to seek revenge or harbor resentment, God's kingdom operates on a radically different principle - one of forgiveness and love. This isn't just a nice suggestion; it's a fundamental characteristic of life in God's kingdom. When we choose to forgive, we're not just doing something counter-cultural - we're actively participating in God's upside-down kingdom where love conquers hate, and mercy triumphs over judgment.

Bible Verse
"But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, offer the other cheek also. If someone demands your coat, offer your shirt also." - Luke 6:27-29

Reflection Question
In what ways have you been operating according to the world's system rather than God's kingdom principles when it comes to dealing with those who hurt you?

Quote
The kingdom of God is this upside down kingdom compared to the way that the world is set up. The kingdom of God is upside down. The world is backwards from the way the kingdom of God is set up.

Prayer
Lord, help me understand and embrace Your upside-down kingdom. Give me the courage to live differently from the world's ways, especially when it comes to forgiveness and love. Amen.
