I Am [The Light Of The World] Devotion Day 5
Reflecting His Light to Others
Devotional
Imagine walking into a room filled with mirrors, with just one light source. That single light is reflected and multiplied until the entire space glows. This is the beautiful picture Jesus paints when He calls us not only to receive His light but to reflect it to others. "You are the light of the world," Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:14. This isn't just a nice compliment—it's a profound calling. We who have received Christ's light are now entrusted with sharing that light with a world still walking in darkness. For many people, our reflection of Jesus might be the only glimpse of His light they ever see. Reflecting Christ's light happens through ordinary actions infused with extraordinary love—showing kindness when others are harsh, choosing joy amid difficulty, standing for truth when it's unpopular, forgiving when you've been wounded. These seemingly small choices shine with supernatural brightness in a dark world. Importantly, we don't generate this light ourselves. Like the moon reflects the sun's light rather than producing its own, we simply reflect the light we've received from Jesus. This means staying connected to Him as our source—through prayer, reading the Bible, worship, and community. Today, consider how you might intentionally reflect Christ's light to someone in your sphere of influence who needs to see it.
Bible Verse
You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. - Matthew 5:14
Reflection Question
Who in your life might be walking in darkness and needs to see Christ's light reflected through your words, actions, or attitudes this week, and what specific way could you shine for them?
Quote
"We might be the only reflection of Jesus that some people will ever see. So it's important that we let our light shine for them."
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for the incredible privilege of reflecting Your light to others. Forgive me for the times I've hidden Your light or allowed my connection to You to dim. Help me to stay plugged into You as my source so that Your light shines brightly through me. Use me today to bring Your light to someone walking in darkness. May they see You in me and be drawn to Your saving light. Amen.
