Cornerstone [Living Stones] Devotions Day 4

Your Identity Is Not Your History

Devotional
A lot of people are still living under the weight of who they used to be. Old labels. Old mistakes. Old versions of themselves that they cannot seem to shake. But Scripture is clear. If you are in Christ, you are a new creation. Not a cleaned-up version of the old one. Something genuinely new. Your past does not get the final word on who you are. You are chosen. You are a royal priest. You are holy. You are God's very own. These are not things you have to work toward. They are already true of you because of Jesus. That means the shame, the addiction, the people-pleasing, the fear, none of those things are your cornerstone anymore. You have a new one. And He does not move.

Bible Verse
"This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!" - 2 Corinthians 5:17

Reflection Question
What old label or past failure have you been allowing to define you, and what would it look like to let your identity in Christ replace it?

Quote
"Your past, your rejection, your wandering, none of that's your final identity. Your final identity is this. If you've given your heart to God, you are God's people and you've received mercy."

Prayer
Jesus, thank You that my past does not define me. Help me to stop living as the old version of myself and to walk fully in the new identity You have given me. Amen.
