More Than a Member, You Are Family

There is a big difference between being a stranger and being family. Strangers get hospitality. Family gets everything else. Yesterday we looked at how Jesus broke down the wall that kept people at a distance from God. But Paul does not stop there. He keeps going deeper. He moves from strangers to citizens, and then from citizens to something even more intimate: family. Being a citizen means you have rights. Being family means you have a relationship. You are not just permitted to be here. You are wanted here. You are known here. You have an inheritance here. This is what God says about you. Not that you earned your way in. Not that you are on probation. But that you are a full member of His family, with all the love and belonging that comes with it. If you have been treating your faith like a membership card you carry around, today is a good day to let that go. God is not running a club. He is building a family, and He has specifically made room for you in it.

God, thank You for not just tolerating me but truly welcoming me as Your own. Teach me to live like someone who belongs to Your family, and to treat others the same way. Amen.
