Dry Bones [God's Word] Devotions Day 3

Revival Starts With Humility

Devotional
There's a posture that makes all the difference when it comes to God's Word actually changing your life. It's not intelligence. It's not how long you've been a Christian. It's humility. James 1:21 tells us to humbly accept the Word God has planted in our hearts, because it has the power to save our souls. That word "humbly" is doing a lot of work. It means coming to Scripture not to confirm what you already believe, but to be shaped by what God says. It means being open to being challenged, corrected, and comforted in ways you didn't expect. Ezekiel didn't walk into that valley with a plan. He walked in with obedience. He didn't fully understand what God was doing, but He was willing to speak what God told Him to speak. That willingness, that openness, was the soil where revival grew. Humility isn't thinking less of yourself. It's simply acknowledging that God knows more than you do. When you come to His Word admitting you don't have it all figured out, something shifts. The Word takes root. And where the Word takes root, life follows. You don't have to have everything together to come to God's Word. You just have to come honestly and humbly.

Bible Verse
"So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls." - James 1:21

Reflection Question
Is there an area of your life where pride or defensiveness might be keeping God's Word from taking root, and what would it look like to approach that area with genuine humility?

Quote
"Humility is the soil. When we come to Scripture admitting that we don't have it all figured out, when we come acknowledging our spiritual lack and our need for Him, that's when the Word takes root."

Prayer
Father, soften my heart and remove any pride that keeps Your Word from reaching me. I come to You today not with all the answers, but with a willingness to be shaped by You.
