Tell Your Story - Devotions Day 3
Be Specific. That Is What Breaks Through.
Devotional
There is a big difference between saying "God changed my life" and actually describing what changed. One is easy to brush past. The other is hard to ignore. When you get specific about what God has done in your life, something shifts. You stop sounding like a bumper sticker and start sounding like a real person who has been through something real. And that is exactly what people connect with. Think about it. If a friend told you they had been through a hard season but God brought them through, you might nod and move on. But if that same friend described the specific fear they carried, the moment things started to shift, and how they are genuinely different now, you would lean in. You would want to hear more. That is the power of a specific testimony. It is not just information. It is evidence. It is proof that Jesus is not just a concept but a living God who still transforms real people in real situations. So think about your story. What were you actually struggling with? What did He bring you through? How are you different today than you were before? Those details are not oversharing. They are the part of your story that will break through to someone who needs it most. Do not be afraid to say the thing. That is the part someone is waiting to hear.
Bible Verse
Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. - 1 Peter 3:15
Reflection Question
If you had to describe one specific way God has changed you (not just that He did, but exactly what changed), what would you say?
Quote
Don't just say, God changed my life and that's all you say. Say what changed? Say the thing that He did for you. What are you struggling with? What were you struggling with that He has now brought you out of? What did Jesus do for you? How are you different? Be specific. Being specific is what people remember. It's what breaks through to them.
Prayer
God, help me move past vague words and find the courage to be honest and specific about what You have done in my life. Use those details to reach someone who needs to hear them. Amen.
