Truly Knowing Jesus [Ears To Hear] Devotions Day 5
The Voice Worth Following
Devotional
At the end of the day, the reason you can trust the Shepherd's voice comes down to one thing: He laid His life down for you. Not a hired hand who runs when things get dangerous. Not a stranger who does not know your name. The Good Shepherd stayed. He bled. He gave everything. That kind of love is the foundation of trust. And trust is what makes following possible, especially when the path ahead is unclear or the next step feels costly. Following Jesus is not first about what you gain. It begins with what you are willing to let go of. Your own agenda. Your need to control the outcome. Your insistence on seeing the full map before you take the first step. The sheep in John 10 did not know exactly where the Shepherd was leading them. But they knew His voice, they knew His character, and that was enough. He has not promised you a life without pain or difficulty. But He has promised you a life that is full, a life aligned with your true purpose, a life where your deepest longings are actually being met because you are following the One who made you. This week, you have been invited to open your ears, spend time in His Word, respond when He speaks, and learn to recognize what is not His voice. Now comes the daily choice: will you follow? The Shepherd laid His life down for you. That is the voice worth spending your life learning to hear.
Bible Verse
"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep." - John 10:11
Reflection Question
What would it look like for you to trust the Shepherd enough to follow Him into something unfamiliar or uncomfortable this season of your life?
Quote
A shepherd who would die for you is a voice you can trust. The hired hand runs when the wolf comes. The thief wants to take from you. The stranger does not care about your welfare. But the shepherd, the shepherd stays. The shepherd bleeds. The shepherd lays down his life for you.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for laying down Your life for me. I choose to trust Your voice and follow You, even when the path is uncertain. Lead me where You want me to go. Amen.
