Truly Knowing Jesus [Minds To Understand] Devotions Day 2
When God's Logic Flips Everything Upside Down
Devotional
We live in a world that rewards the strong, the smart, and the successful. Power is admired. Status is chased. Self-promotion is practically a skill set. So when we bring that same mindset to our faith, we expect God to operate the same way. He does not. God chose to reveal Himself through a cross. Not a throne room... Not a military victory... A cross. To the world, that looks like failure. But Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians that this is actually the very power of God at work. God did not stumble into the cross as a backup plan. It was always the plan. He chose the path that would completely overturn human pride, designing salvation in a way that cannot be earned, achieved, or figured out through sheer brilliance. That levels the playing field entirely. And this is where it gets personal. If God's wisdom looks so different from ours, it means we cannot simply think our way into knowing Him. Our natural logic, as useful as it is in everyday life, is like a map for the wrong territory when it comes to understanding Jesus. The invitation today is to loosen your grip on your own conclusions about who God should be, and let Him show you who He actually is. That shift is where real knowing begins.
Bible Verse
"The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God." - 1 Corinthians 1:18
Reflection Question
In what area of your life are you still expecting God to operate by the world's logic rather than His own?
Quote
"The cross isn't just a tragedy that God had to work around. The cross was always the plan. The cross is God's wisdom."
Prayer
God, forgive me for trying to fit You into my own understanding. Help me trust that Your ways are higher, even when they do not make sense to me.
