Truly Knowing Jesus [Minds To Understand] Devotions Day 5
Keep Asking, Keep Growing
Devotional
Growing in your knowledge of Jesus is not something that just happens to you. It is something you pursue. And the good news is that you do not have to pursue it alone or in your own strength. Colossians 1:9 shows us that Paul prayed specifically for believers to be filled with spiritual wisdom and understanding. He did not assume they would drift into it naturally. He asked God for it on their behalf. That tells us something important: asking is not a sign of weakness. It is the starting point. Growing in this kind of knowing looks like staying curious about who Jesus is. It looks like letting both the joyful seasons and the hard ones deepen your understanding of His character. It looks like drawing your strength from Him rather than grinding it out on your own. And it is marked by a gratitude that grows the more you realize how much you have been forgiven. You do not have to earn this. You do not have to be smart enough, good enough, or spiritual enough. The cross has already made the way. The Spirit is already here, ready to reveal Jesus to you. All you have to do is ask. This is not a destination you arrive at. It is a lifelong journey of knowing, growing, and being continually surprised by grace. And it is the most worthwhile journey you will ever take.
Bible Verse
"So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of His will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding." - Colossians 1:9
Reflection Question
What would it look like for you to actively and consistently ask God for deeper spiritual wisdom, rather than waiting for it to come on its own?
Quote
"You don't have to earn this knowing. You don't have to be smart enough or good enough or spiritual enough. The cross has already made a way. The Spirit is already here, ready to reveal Jesus to you. All you have to do is ask."
Prayer
Father, I am asking You right now for deeper knowledge of who Jesus truly is. Fill me with spiritual wisdom and let that knowing bear fruit in every part of my life.
