The Old You Is Gone

Devotional
We have spent two days grounding ourselves in the truth that we belong to Jesus. Now comes the question that naturally follows: if I truly belong to Him, what does that mean for how I live? Here is where it gets personal. The version of you that was constantly chasing approval, the one shaped by shame and self-protection, the one living for yourself first, that person is gone. Not improving. Gone. This is not harsh news. It is actually the most freeing thing you will ever hear. You are no longer defined by your worst moments, your biggest failures, or the labels other people placed on you. That old identity has been crucified with Christ. And in its place, Christ Himself lives in you. Not beside you, cheering you on from a distance. In you. Actively present, actively working. Your identity is not up for debate anymore. You know who you are because you know whose you are. That is the foundation everything else is built on.

Bible Verse
"My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." - Galatians 2:20

Reflection Question
Which version of your old self do you find hardest to let go of, and what might it look like to truly leave that identity behind?

Prayer
Jesus, thank You that my old self does not get the final word. Help me to live today from my new identity in You, not from the shame or habits of who I used to be. Amen.
