Following Jesus [Become] Devotions Day 3

Transformation Starts in Your Mind

Devotional
Behavior change that does not start in the mind never lasts. You can modify what you do on the outside for a season, but if your thinking stays the same, you will eventually drift back to where you started. Real transformation goes deeper than habits. It goes to the stories you tell yourself about who you are, what you need, and what really matters. This is why renewing your mind is not optional in the life of a disciple. It is the engine of everything else. When you consistently bring your thoughts into contact with Scripture, with prayer, and with honest community, something begins to shift. Old assumptions start to loosen. New desires begin to form. And slowly, your behavior follows. This is not an overnight process, and that is okay. God is not in a hurry, and He is not frustrated with your pace. He is committed to finishing what He started in you. Your job is simply to keep showing up, keep engaging, and keep letting Him work. The mind is where the battle is fought. And it is also where the victory begins.

Bible Verse
'You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.' - Philippians 2:5

Reflection Question
What is one thought pattern or belief about yourself that might be keeping you from becoming more like Jesus?

Quote
"Real transformation happens. It starts in the mind. This is where the battle starts. This is where real transformations starts. Your assumptions, your thought patterns, the stories that you tell yourself about what you need, who you are and what really matters."

Prayer
Jesus, renew my mind today. Replace the lies I have believed with the truth of who You say I am. Amen.
