Inside Out [A Righteous Choice] Devotions Day 1

The Choice That Changes Everything

Devotional
Every day, we face countless choices, but Jesus presents us with one that determines our eternal destiny. He describes two gates: one narrow, one wide. The wide gate appears inviting because it asks nothing of us; no change, no surrender, no transformation. It's the path of least resistance where we remain in control. The narrow gate, however, demands something we naturally resist; complete surrender. It's not harder because it's the wrong choice, but because it requires us to let go of our self-reliance and pride. We must admit we can't save ourselves or earn our way to God. Many people avoid the narrow gate because they want to maintain control of their lives. They prefer the illusion of being their own master rather than surrendering to Jesus as Lord. But here's the beautiful truth: the narrow gate leads to life; abundant, meaningful, eternal life. The choice isn't just about eternity; it affects how we live today. When we choose the narrow gate, we're choosing transformation over comfort, relationship over performance, and God's way over our own understanding.

Bible Verse
'You can enter God's Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.' - Matthew 7:13-14

Reflection Question
What areas of your life are you still trying to control instead of surrendering to Jesus?

Quote
The narrow road is not the right path because it's harder. The narrow road is harder because it requires something we're naturally resistant to... surrender.

Prayer
Lord, help me choose the narrow gate even when it's difficult. Give me the courage to surrender my self-reliance and trust completely in You.
