Cornerstone [The Rock Of My Salvation] Devotions Day 2

Missing What's Right in Front of Us

Devotional
Sometimes the most obvious truths are the hardest to see. The religious leaders of Jesus' day had spent their entire lives studying Scripture, yet when God Himself stood before them in human form, they completely missed it. They rejected the very cornerstone they had been waiting for because He didn't come in the package they expected. How often do we do the same thing? We pray for God's guidance, then dismiss His answer because it doesn't look like what we thought it should. We ask for His provision, then overlook it because it comes through unexpected channels. We long for His presence, then miss Him because He shows up in ordinary moments rather than spectacular displays. The tragedy isn't that God is hidden from us; it's that we often reject what He's trying to do because it doesn't match our preconceptions. God's ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. When we insist that God work according to our expectations, we risk missing His work entirely. Today, ask God to open your eyes to see Him as He truly is, not as you think He should be.

Bible Verse
'The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.' - Psalm 118:22

Reflection Question
In what areas of your life might you be rejecting God's work because it doesn't match your expectations?

Quote
The very people charged with recognizing God's truth missed it completely. They had the Word of God standing right in front of them. God Himself in human form. Emmanuel, God with us was right there in human form, and they couldn't see it.

Prayer
Father, open my eyes to see You clearly and help me not to miss Your work in my life because of my own limited understanding.
